Police arrested Sanjaman Limbu, 32, also known as Bijay, on July 27 for the charge of killing his wife Shanti Rai, 30, Originally from Sirijanga Rural Municipality-5, the couple had been residing in Ukalipani, Phungling Municipality-4.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ved Prakash Gautam of the District Police Office, the accused allegedly attacked his wife with scissors during a domestic dispute on July 24. She was injured in the abdomen and died on July 26 during treatment.
However, the accused had initially given a statement to police that she had been injured after falling on a road while walking and died during treatment. DSP Gautam informed that police arrested the accused for investigation after her sister and brother-in-law stated that she died from a scissor attack.
The postmortem of the body was conducted at the District Hospital on July 27. On the same day, the victim’s family received the body and carried out the final rites in Sirijanga Rural Municipality–5.
