The District Court sentenced Binay Lama, 35, of Chautara Sangachokgadhi Municipality-6 to eight years in prison for raping a 33-year-old woman. The bench of District Court Judge Bhagwati Sharma Dhungana issued the verdict on July 21, 2025 sentencing him to eight years in prison along with a fine of Rs 310,000.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the District Police Office on April 6 alleging that Lama had raped the victim on April 5, 2023 in her own residence. Based on the complaint, police arrested Lama on April 11, 2023. On April 28, 2023, the District Court ordered his remand in custody for further proceedings.
