A clash between two groups inside Siraha Jail broke on July 20 which led to 13 inmates being injured. The dispute reportedly arose over the appointment of the jail leader. Those injured in the clash include Acting Jail Leader Bijay Mahato, Barun Mahato, Shiva Kumar Ram, Dipak Thakur, Jayprakash Chaudhary, Anjani Kushwaha, Ripendra Jha, Santosh Kumar Singh, Baiju Das, Makeshwar Mahato, Dipendra Yadav, Jitan Shah, and Satya Narayan Karak.
According to Siraha Jail Chief Subodh Mahato, the injured received primary treatment at the Provincial Hospital, Siraha, and were sent to the Central Jail in Kathmandu the same day. He informed that necessary medical arrangements for the injured will be made in Kathmandu. Although the initial assumption suggests that the clash occurred over a dispute related to the appointment of jail leader, the exact cause is still under investigation, informed Assistant Chief District Officer Chetraj Baral.
