The District Court sentenced Birendra Khatri, 28, of Kummayak Rural Municipality-3 to 20 days in prison for the crime of sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl. The bench of Judge Kumar Maske, on June 18 imposed the prison sentence along with a fine of Rs 15,000, compensation of Rs 20,000, and Rs 600 to the Victim Relief Fund, according to the District Court’s Information Officer Gopal Khanal.
The aggrieved party had filed a complaint at the District Police Office on December 2, alleging that Birendra had sexually abused the girl on December 1, 2024. Police arrested the accused on December 24 and registered the case at the District Court on the same day under the charge of sexual abuse. The accused was released on a bail of Rs 100,000 as per the District Court’s order on December 24.
The health examination of the victim was done at the District Hospital on December 3, 2024.
