The District Court sentenced Prem Sagar Kathariya, 23, of Ekatapur-1, Tikapur Municipality to four years in prison on June 17 for the crime of raping an 18-year-old woman. Pankaj Upadhyaya, Information Officer of Kailali District Court, said that the bench of District Court Judge Pradip Kumar Upadhyaya found him guilty and sentenced him to four years in prison, along with a fine of Rs. 100,000, and Rs 5,000 as compensation.
The aggrieved party had filed a complaint at Tikapur Police Station on August 25, alleging that the accused had raped her on August 21. The police registered a case under the charge of rape through the Office of the Government Attorney in the District Court. The court had released the accused on bail on September 19.
The health examination of the victim was done at the Tikapur Hospital on August 25, 2024.
