A fire broke out in Unapani of Sarkeghad Rural Municipality-3, damaging 20 houses. Ward Chairperson Akil Karki stated that eight houses were destroyed by the fire, while 12 others faced partial damage. The fire started at around 11:30 p.m. on June 15 from the cow shed of Brisha Rawat. The houses of Dhan Bahadur Rawat, Janak Rawat, Brikha Rawat, Pale Phadera, Lalkoura Phadera, and Bijan Fadera were destroyed in the fire. Similarly, 12 houses, including those of Ram Krishna Rawat, Raj Bahadur Rawat, Jay Rawat, Amrita Karki, and Birjan Phadera, were partially damaged.

Around Rs 220,000 in cash kept in Dhan Bahadur Rawat’s house was also destroyed in the fire. Food grains, clothes, documents, land ownership certificates, and other belongings were also burnt and destroyed. DSP Shankar Pokharel stated that although a police team reached the site at 2 a.m. after receiving information about the fire, it was only brought under full control at around 6:30 a.m. with the help of residents. Pokharel further informed that while there was no human or livestock loss, the fire caused significant damage to properties.

Chief District Officer Narayan Pandey said that they have initiated efforts to arrange relief through Sarkeghad Rural Municipality and have assigned the ward chairperson to manage immediate support for the fire victims.
