Lalit Bahadur Shahi, Ward Chairperson of Tila Rural Municipality-5 in Jumla, sustained serious injuries in a group attack on June 1, 2025. He was attacked with a knife while returning after monitoring infrastructure development. Inspector Asim Hamal of the District Police Office, Jumla, stated that Shahi filed a complaint against three individuals on June 1. He further informed that one person involved in the incident was arrested from the Jumla bus park, while search for the remaining two is still going on. Additionally, Dhan Bahadur Shahi, Ward Chairperson of Tila Rural Municipality-3, was also attacked in the same incident.
Ward Chairperson Dhan Bahadur Shahi stated that he was hit with stones and punches but did not sustain injuries due to wearing a helmet. However, Lalit Bahadur Shahi was attacked with a knife, so his condition is serious. Both of them are currently undergoing treatment at the the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences.
