Police arrested juveniles on 28 May for raping an eight-year-old minor. It is reported that they raped the girl on the night of May 27 and absconded leaving her unconscious. After the girl became conscious, she returned home and was taken to the Provincial Hospital in Kalaiya for treatment. However, she was referred elsewhere for further medical care as the incident appeared suspicious. Accordingly, she was taken to the National Medical College and Teaching Hospital, Birgunj, where doctors confirmed that she had been raped.
DSP Bijay Raj Pandit of the District Police Office, Parsa, stated that they received information about the incident only on May 28. Following this, the juveniles were arrested on the same day. The police have been investigating the case after the District Court extended the date.
The minor is undergoing further treatment at Narayani Hospital in Birgunj.
