Due to a lack of human resources, locals have been facing difficulties in obtaining national identity cards in Dadeldhura. Although people from remote areas come to the District Administration Office to make the cards, they complain that they are forced to wait in long queues all day because of the staff shortage. Only two staff members work in the National Identity Card section. Every day, hundreds of people are forced to wait in line all day in front of the section at the District Administration Office, Dadeldhura. Locals allege that although all the work related to the national identity card must be done online, they are facing inconvenience due to the lack of staff.

Ram Bahadur Bista from Belapur, shared his frustration, stating that although he came to the District Administration Office, Dadeldhura to make a national identity card, he was compelled to stay overnight at the district headquarters due to time constraints. The process of issuing national identity cards began on August 18, 2020.

Chandra Bahadur Rokaya, Assistant Officer at the District Administration Office, Dadeldhura, said, “Since there is only one workstation, it causes crowding. It would be easier if another workstation could be added.” Rokaya added during the deployment of the national team for the national identity card registration, around 63,406 people had filled out the form. However, only 59,947 individuals have received their identity cards, while the remaining have yet to be provided with the cards. He further informed that, in recent times, data from over 15,000 individuals has been collected, and identity cards for 9,556 of them have arrived at the District Administration Office.
