Absconded Rape Accused Arrrested in Kailali

Police arrested 19-year-old Detan Chaudhary of Kailari Rural Municipality–2 on May 18. He had been absconding in connection with a rape case. According to Chhetraj Panta, Registrar of the District Court, the bench of Judge Hari Singh Dhami on June 23, 2024, sentenced Chaudhary to six years and eight months in prison, along with a fine of Rs 333,333.

Inspector Darshan Khadka of the District Police Office, Kailali, stated that although the court had handed down the sentence for raping a 13-year-old girl on December 19, Chaudhary had been evading arrest for a year. He was eventually found hiding at his home, taken into custody, and sent to jail.

The health examination of the minor was done on December 20 at Seti Provincial Hospital, Dhangadhi.
