Gundra Devi Pandit,30 of Pipariya-3 and her 10 years old daughter Chanda Kumari died after consuming poison due to the poverty according to District Police Office of Sarlahi.
On January 2, mother Gundra Devi locked the door and gave poison to her 13 years old daughter Puja Kumari, Chanda Kumari and three years old Radha Kumari. After that she consumed poison and committed suicide according to Inspector Charitra Bikram Karki of Area Police Office, Haripur.
Mothe and daughter Chanda Kumari died on the way to the hospital in Malangwa according to the police. Other victims Puja Kumari and Radha Kumari were further referred to Birjung National Medical Hospital after they could not be treated at Malangwa hospital. Police said that both of them are recovering.
The bodies of victims were sent for postmortem in Sarlahi District Hospital according to the police.
The preliminary investigation showed that Gundra Devi committed suicide due to the poverty according to DSP Sita Ram Rijal. He said that she was compelled to choose the path of death after she was having hardship to look after her five daughters and one son due to an acute poverty.
