Two Injured in Clash During Convention in Dhanusha

Two individuals were injured in a clash between two parties during the eighth convention of CPN (UML) in Dhanusha district. The injured are Satyanarayan Mahaseth,62, a district member of CPN (UML), and Mahesh Das, 60, a resident of Thera, Mithila Bihari Municipality-10. They received treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Janakpurdham. Both sustained head injuries. The UML district convention began on May 3 at the Mahendra Narayan Nidhi Cultural Building in Janakpurdham. As consensus could not be reached, the selection of officials was initiated through an election process.

Although the election committee had announced the voting schedule to begin at 8 a.m. on May 6, voting could not begin due to a dispute over the final list of candidates. According to UML leader Dipen Thakur, a dispute between the parties of Bhola Yadav and Lakshminarayan Yadav over the publication of the final candidate list led to clashes, during which some leaders and party members threw chairs at the election committee.
