The District Court sentenced 45-year-old Somnath Gharti of Runtigadhi Rural Municipality–6 to six months in prison for sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl. District Court Registrar Damodar Ghimire informed that the bench of Judge Pratima Kumari Bhattarai Pokhrel on April 30 sentenced Gharti to six months in prison, imposed a fine of Rs 15,000, ordered compensation of Rs 20,000, and directed him to deposit Rs 2,000 in the Victim Relief Fund.
The aggrieved party had filed a complaint at the District Police Office on July 17, 2024 alleging that Gharti had sexually abused the girl on February 8, 2024. Subsequently, police arrested Ghartion July 26, 2024.
The victim underwent a health examination on July 17 at the Rapti Academy of Health Sciences, Ghorahi.
