Police arrested American citizen Julian Kirpal Bliss,58, from a protest at Maitighar in Kathmandu on March 27. The protest was against the dismissal of Kulman Ghising, the Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, on March 25, and in support of the Royalist as per SP Apilraj Bohara of the District Police Office. Julian was initially seen at Maitighar with pamphlets in support of Kulman Ghising. Later, he participated in the protest carrying royalist posters. He arrived alone at Maitighar, and he was detained by the police and taken to the District Police Range, Singhadarbar, as reported by the Kathmandu District Police Office.
According to SP Bohara, it is prohibited for any foreign nationals to engage in political activities in Nepal. It is reported that Julian came to Nepal on a tourist visa. The police have stated that further investigation is ongoing regarding him.
