Police arrested Basanta Kumar Kurmi, 21, of Gulariya Municipality-11 on December 18. Kurmi was already sentenced to 2 months and four days imprisonment by the district court for the crime of sexually abusing a nine-year-old girl.
Amrita KC, Information Officer of the District Court informed that the bench of Judge Manoj Shrestha on 10 September sentenced the accused to 2 months and four days imprisonment. The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the District Police Office alleging that the accused had sexually abused the girl on June 27, 2023. Kurmi was arrested on 28 June. The medical examination of the victim was done on June 27 at Bardiya Hospital, Gulariya.
DSP Rishi Ram Ghartimagar informed Kurmi, absconded after he got the verdict from the court. He has now been arrested and sent to the district court to serve the sentence in Bardiya jail.
