Bir Bahadur Tamang, 33 has been accused of attempting to burn his 30-year-old wife, Pemalamu Thing, by pouring petrol on her while she was at home in Syaule, Chautara Sangachokgadhi Municipality-1. The victim alleged that on 17 December, her husband brought a bottle of petrol into the house, poured it on her, threatened that he would burn her to death, and attempted to light a match. However, she managed to escape. The victim subsequently reached out to the Women, Children, and Senior Citizen Service Center at the District Police Office on the afternoon of December 17. When the police team reached the scene, the accused had already absconded, as stated by the in-charge of the Women, Children, and Senior Citizen Service Center, Sajina Chauguthi.
DSP Umashankar Yadav of the District Police Office informed that the victim was taken to Chautara Hospital for treatment on the afternoon of December 17. After receiving basic treatment, she was placed in the rehabilitation center in Chautara on the evening of the same day.
The in-charge of the Women, Children, and Senior Citizen Service Center, Sajina Chauguthi stated that the process of registering a complaint will begin after the aggrieved party arrives. Previously, in August 2024, the victim had also filed a complaint at the District Police Office, alleging that her husband had assaulted her. The police had called the accused, mediated the case, and after the accused agreed not to commit further assault, the matter was settled.
