The District Court has sentenced 25-year-old Gagan Singh Sunar of Thakurbaba Municipality-9 to 7 years and 1 month imprisonment for the crime of raping an 18-year-old girl. Registrar Kapil Poudel, of the District Court said that the bench of Judge Manoj Shrestha on November 15 decided to impose the prison sentence along with a compensation of Rs 50,000, a fine of Rs 3,00,000 and Rs 12,000 to be paid to the victim’s relief fund.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the Area Police Office, Bagnaha on March 28, alleging that accused had raped the girl 26 March, 2023. Subsequently, Sunar was arrested on 29 March. The health examination of the victim was done on 28 March at the Bardiya Hospital, Gulariya.
