Three people, including a police, were injured in a clash between flood-affected individuals and police in Bhokraha Narsingha Rural Municipality. On October 7, flood victims surrounded the municipality office, demanding relief, which led to the confrontation. Inspector Jai Chaudhary of the Armed Police and a senior constable were among those injured in the incident.
In the clash, flood-affected individuals and protesters Malodevi Mandal and Tajamul Hussain from Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality-5 were injured. Armed Police Inspector Jay Chaudhary sustained injuries to his cheek and neck, while a senior constable was injured in the leg. Malodevi Mandal suffered a head injury, and Tajamul Hussain sustained a minor injury to his leg. The district police office reported that all those injured in the clash were treated at the Neuro Hospital in Bhokraha.
Chairperson of Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality, Ajmal Akhtar Azad, claimed that the demonstration was driven by political revenge rather than concerns for flood victims, and that the vandalism at the rural municipality office was planned. Following the incident, Azad held a press conference on October 7, stating that the flood victims were used for political motives in the vandalism of the village council office.
Due to the vandalism, 10 windows including the village board at the gate, the window of the security guard’s living room, the window of the village chairperson’s office, the window of the meeting hall and the administration room, and the window of the chief administrative officer’s room were damaged. According to the rural municipality, there was a loss of 3 lakh rupees due to vandalism.
