Explosion in Panchthar Caused Death of Two Minors of Same Family

A 12-year-old boy injured in the explosion in Phalelung Rural Municipality-5 Dandagaun died in the hospital during treatment. According to the police, the child died on August 29 during treatment at B&C Hospital in Birtamod, Jhapa. DSP Hemanta Bhandari of the District Police Office reported that out of the four people injured in the explosion, a boy and a girl have died. He mentioned that the 12-year-old son of Dilip Sawa from Phalelung Rural Municipality-5 passed away during treatment at B&C, while his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter died while being taken to hospital for treatment.

DSP Bhandari added that another 11-year-old boy injured in the explosion is currently receiving treatment at the district hospital. He also mentioned that Dipak Rai’s seven-year-old son has been discharged after receiving treatment at the Prangbung Health Center in Phalelung Rural Municipality-5. The explosion that occurred on August 29 in Dandagaun, Phalelung Rural Municipality-5, is suspected to be caused by a homemade grenade. However, it has yet to be confirmed whether the explosion was indeed caused by a homemade grenade.

The Nepali Army team arrived at the scene on August 30. The police reported that the army discovered another suspicious item and started investigating the incident.
