Citizens of Mugu Facing Significant Challenges Since Landslide Obstructed Road for Two Weeks

An 80-meter section of the road in the Anshidhar River of the Soru Rural Municipality-8 has been completely blocked due to a landslide for the past two weeks, significantly challenging the citizens.

According to Soru Rural Municipality Deputy Chairperson Jeshar Jung Shahi, the landslide has affected residents across all 11 wards of the Municipality, as the main road is blocked for two weeks. He noted that the road blockage has deprived the local population of essential services, including health and education. Similarly, Sagar Shamsher Shahi, Ward Chairperson of Soru Rural Municipality-8, said that this situation has particularly affected women, children, senior citizens, and people with disabilities, forced to travel under risky conditions. He mentioned that locals have had to travel by the road putting their lives at risk.

Janak Rokaya, a local of Soru Rural Municipality-8, expressed concern that if the main road is not repaired soon, even ambulances will be unable to reach the area in an emergency. Consequently, patients would have to be carried to the hospital. Furthermore, Dharma Bahadur Shahi, Chairperson of Soru Rural Municipality, stated that despite informing the Karnali provincial government about the landslide multiple times, there has been no response regarding the road construction.
