Locked Health Center in Humla Created Problems for Beneficiaries

The beneficiaries in Humla are facing significant challenges following the closure of the birthing center at the basic health center in Thali, Kharpunath Rural Municipality-2. The Management Committee of Shankar Secondary School locked the center on July 22, causing patient difficulties. All health services have halted due to the health center being closed for two days.

Lama Rawal, a resident, reported that this arbitrary action has affected around 10 to 15 patients within two days. Rawal added that when he visited the health institution due to illness, he had to return without receiving treatment or medication because the center was locked.

Birsingh Rawal, the Chief of the Health Center, informed that a team led by Sankesh Rawal, Chairperson of the School Management Committee, locked the health center, which was constructed and operating on vacant land of the school. It is reported that this action was taken in response to the non-payment of Rs 650,000 owed to the school.

Chairperson Sankesh Rawal stated that although it was agreed to pay the said amount to the school, the contractor’s failure to implement this led them to lock the health center.

Chandra Rawal, Chairperson of Ward No. 2 Thali, stated that the issue will be discussed with both parties to resolve the matter.
