Pooja Mahato Nuniya, 23, of Kaudena Rural Municipality-5, Motipur, filed a complaint against her 26-year-old husband Rambabu Mahato Nuniya at the Area Police Office on June 26. She alleged that on 17 June, the accused subjected her to beating under the pretext of not bringing dowry.
The victim and the accused were married on May 30. Rajendra Mahato, 46, the victim’s father, stated that they gave Rs 1,00,000 in cash and a motorcycle with an Indian number plate to the accused. However, the accused physically and mentally abused the victim for not providing an additional Rs 1,00,000 in cash and a bed set as additional dowry.
The victim sustaining injuries was treated at Sarlahi District Hospital, Malangwa from 18 to 20 June.
ASI Diplal Yadav of the Area Police Office, Kaudena reported that the search for the absconding accused is currently underway.
