Aishwarya Malla, 36, the Deputy Mayor of Chhayanath Rara Municipality reported that she, along with her husband Upar Bahadur, 37, and Ramraj Malla, 32, an employee of Municipality Office were beaten by Naresh Bham, 28, Dilip Kumar Bham, 27, and Bishnu Khatri, 30, all of same Municipality-4 on 19 June.
Deputy Mayor Aishwarya alleged that they were beaten by a group led by the Mayor. In addition, the incident occurred when she attended the municipal executive meeting voicing concerns about the issues faced by people and demanding its inclusion in the budget.
During the beating, Ramraj Malla, a Municipal employee, got a head injury. He reported that he is preparing to file a complaint at the District Police Office regarding the incident. On the other hand, Mayor Bishnu Kumar stated that he was not involved in the incident and claimed that the incident took place when they attempted to assault Chief Administrative Officer Pashupati Shahi under the pretext of not employing workers in the municipality.
DSP Birandra Thapa of the District Police Office informed that no written complaint has been filed regarding the incident.
