The bench of District Court Judge Narayan Paudel on January 29 2024 sentenced 41-year-old Poshlal Shrestha, of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-8, Dhading, to 10 years imprisonment, a fine of Rs 500,000, compensation of Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000 to be paid to the victim’s relief fund for the crime of raping a 17-year-old girl.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint against Shrestha at the district police office on June 14, alleging that he raped the victim on June 13, 2023.
The police arrested the accused on 14 June. The health examination of the victim was done on the same day at Bharatpur Hospital. The police registered a case against Shrestha through the district public prosecutor’s office on July 6 in the district court on charges of rape. The order of the district court on July 7 sent the accused for pre-trial detention.
