Sujit Kumar Singh, 32, from Chaudadano Panchayat Tinkuni, Motihari District, India, was arrested on December 26 by a team assigned from the District Police Office on the suspicion that he might be involved in the killing of Rupesh Swarnakar, the principal of Bal Ekata Boarding School located in Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City on October 30, 2023.
During the attempt to arrest the accused, who was identified at the dumping site in Bishrampur Rural Municipality-3, he attacked the police and tried to run. In response, the police shot him below the knees to bring the situation under control. SP Suresh Kafle of District Police Office informed that the injured are being treated at Provincial Hospital Kalaiya.
SP Kafle stated that the accused was identified as a sharpshooter, and law enforcement recovered one domestic weapon, one fired bullet casing, and additional bullets from him. He mentioned that further investigations are ongoing regarding the incident.
