Three Accused Of Killing Arrested Including Brother-in-law

Police arrested three accused including brother-in-law on October 1 for killing 56-year-old Kanti Devi Win, of Jagarnathpur Rural Municipality-5, Masihani.

Komal Shah, SP of the District Police Office has informed that the police arrested the victim’s brothers-in-law, Chandrika Raut, 59 and Amirika Raut 57, along with Lalbabu Raut 36, of Jagarnathpur Rural Municipality-5, Masihani, on charge of killing.

He said that Lal Babu Raut Win was arrested on September 24 on the basis of initial suspicion and during the investigation, it was revealed that Chandrika and Amirika, the brothers-in-law of the deceased, were also involved in the incident. After that, both of them were also arrested on October 1 and the deadline of the court was extended to proceed with the investigation.

The dead body of Kanti Devi Win was found inside her own house on September 19  at 3:00 PM.

According to the police, the accused entered the house of the deceased through a tunnel on September 18 at approximately 11:45 pm with the intention of stealing. While they were searching the boxes inside the house the deceased woke up and recognized them. Fearing that they would be revealed , they hit Win on the head with a rod and a wooden board and made her unconscious. The statement of the accused Lal Babu revealed that they killed her by covering her mouth with a pillow and slitting her throat.

Arjun Mukhiya Win, the son of the deceased, who had been residing abroad for foreign employment, filed the complaint under the name of the accused Lal Babu Raut Win on September 24 after he returned home from abroad.The accused was arrested on the same day and the court extended the investigation work.

According to SP Shah the polygraph test of the accused was also conducted during the investigation and further investigation work is going on regarding the incident.

A police team including SOCO and trained dogs were deployed at the spot under the command of SP Sah from the District Police Office as soon as the information about the incident was received. The body was sent to Narayani Hospital Birgunj for post-mortem.
