On July 30, INSEC took a step to aid the 13-year-old victim of a rape case by providing financial assistance. This initiative was based on a recommendation from the Area Police Office (Case Branch) in Butwal. The objective behind this support is to ensure that victims are not denied justice due to financial constraints and to facilitate their access to the legal process.
The victim expressed her gratitude for the financial aid provided by INSEC, stating that it would greatly ease the process of seeking justice. The assistance will enable her to engage with the police and the court more effectively.
The case involves the repeated rape of the victim by her 30-year-old uncle. The victim lodged a complaint with the Butwal area police office on August 7, stating that she had been subjected to multiple instances of rape, with the most recent occurrence being on July 29.
During conversations with INSEC representatives, the victim shared that she had been threatened and coerced by her perpetrator. In response, she took the brave step of filing a police complaint to seek justice for the crimes committed against her.
Reema B.C., INSEC’s representative for Rupandehi district, presented a monetary aid of Rs. 8,000 to the victim. This financial support was intended to facilitate her engagement with the legal process, including filing a complaint with the police and covering her transportation costs.
