Police arrested, Murti Devi Khang, a resident of Tirhut Rural Municipality-2 Mainakderi, on July 13 , on charges of aiding and abetting the rape of a 17-year-old girl with psychosocial disabilities.
According to allegations, the accused, Murthy Devi Khang, allegedly provided her residence to Maudhkar Khang (also known as Bunker), a 46-year-old individual from Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality-5 , Koiladi, Barsine. The victim’s family claims that the young girl was confined to a room and subjected to repeated sexual assault by Maudhkar Khang since October 24, 2022, resulting in her pregnancy. It is alleged that Murti Devi facilitated the encounter between the victim and the accused, encouraging their sexual engagement. The discovery of the victim’s pregnancy prompted her family to seek medical examination at a hospital.
The victim’s father lodged a formal complaint on March 16, 2023, which was subsequently registered by the local police office in Kanchanrup on March 23. On March 26, a medical examination of the victim took place at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital, confirming that she was four months pregnant.
The victim asserts that Murti Devi covertly captured photographs and videos of the rape incidents through a window, subsequently exploiting them to coerce and manipulate the victim, threatening to expose the evidence and ruin her life. Murti Devi’s spouse, Lakshman Khang, is currently employed abroad. Meanwhile, Moudhkar Khang, who was apprehended on June 6, is presently detained at Rajbiraj Jail since July 2. The district court had previously issued an arrest warrant against Murthy Devi on June 6. On July 13, during the pre-trial proceedings, the presiding District Judge Navin Kumar Joshi entertained a request for bail made by the accused, Murti Devi.
