Case Related to Juveniles Accused of Gang Rape, Adjourned

The Saptari District Court has made the decision to adjourn the case involving three individuals: one aged 15 and two aged 16. These individuals are accused of gang-raping a 40-year-old woman.

Kumar Subedi, the court officer, reported that District Judge Hemant Rawal’s court decided to adjourn the case due to the absence of the accused, who are currently on the run.

The victim lodged a complaint at the local police office in Kalyanpur on March 17, 2022, which was the day of the Holi festival. The complaint stated that the boys had gang-raped the victim at a mango orchard near Balan River in Surunga Municipality-7, Chakdah, which belongs to Babunand Chaudhary.

According to the victim’s husband, the incident occurred while the victim was heading to graze the goats. The boys, who were engaged in playing with colors, allegedly surrounded her, forcefully undressed her, covered her mouth to prevent her from crying out, and perpetrated the gang rape. On March 17, the victim underwent a health examination at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajviraj.

The Kadarbona Area Police Office registered a complaint on March 29, 2022. On the same day, arrest warrants were issued against the accused. Despite filing a charge sheet in the district court and issuing arrest warrants, the accused individuals have not been apprehended thus far.
