District Co-ordination Committee Clamps Down on Civil Organizations

District Coordination Committee Ramechhap has decided to clamp down on civil organizations that are operating against the law.

In the discussion program organized by the District Coordination Committee Ramechhap on June 13, 2023, District Coordination Committee Chief,  Cheena Khadka Karki announced that the district administration office will renew the organization registration only after submitting its annual report to the District Coordination Committee and making a recommendation for renewal.

He said that this decision was taken because the district coordination committee has the right to monitor the activities of civic organizations.

“It is a pity that the district coordination committee does not have information about the work and objective of such organizations, now we have taken this decision for all this information,” he said.

Ratna Kandel, Chairperson of Non-Governmental Organization Mahasangh Ramechhap, said that although it is correct that civil organizations should submit an annual report to the District Coordination Committee, the recommendation of the District Coordination Committee for the renewal of the organization is not valid as it is against the law.

“That is not acceptable to us, we are not going to take the recommendation of the District Coordination Committee”, he said.

So far, 1,064 non-governmental organizations have been registered in the District Administration Office Ramechhap. Among them, only 25 institutions have renewed in this financial year.
