Judge Jagat Bahadur Paudel of the District Court sentenced Shanti Thapa Magar, 30, Rajpur Rural Municipality-7, to 15 years of imprisonment on June 5, 2023, for the human trafficking of a 14-year-old girl.
District Court Registrar, Hiranya Prasad Bhandari, said the court imposed a fine of Rs. 1, 00,000 and a victim compensation of Rs. 2, 00,000, and Rs. 2,200 for the victim relief fund, in addition to the imprisonment.
The aggrieved party filed a complaint at the Local Police Office, Tulsipur on January 7, 2023, accusing Thapa of human trafficking.
While the girl was being taken to India, The police arrested her red-handed, from Bhaisahi crossing, while she was transporting the victim to India, on January 7. Police registered a case related to human trafficking and transportation on February 2, 2023.
The health examination of the girl was done, on January 7, at Rapti Provincial Hospital, Tulsipur.
