A viral fever infection broke out in Kanakasundari

A woman died on June 1, 2023, due to a viral fever that is spreading in Kankasundari Rural municipality-7,  Deyarpata, Jumla. A total of 53 people have fallen ill due to the fever.

Dipu Upadhyay, 61, from Dayarpata village,  died due to a fever on May 30. Tej Bahadur Ji, Ward Chairman of 7, immediately informed the public health office in Jumla regarding the fever.

Prem Bahadur Sumai, Public Health Inspector of Public Health Office Jumla, said that the team of Karnali Foundation has recently returned after conducting checkups of the 53 patients. According to him, the condition of eight patients out of 53 patients, is serious. Two of them were referred to the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences located in the headquarters of Jumla.

Public health inspector Sumai said the condition of the referred patients has stabilized.

In addition to fever, the patients have symptoms such as sore eyes, headache, and sore throat. In that ward, a team including Dr.Bishal Rokaya has been deployed.

Sumai said that the Public Health Office has mobilized four health workers. Due to the increase in viral fever infection in the entire village, a team of health workers has been mobilized in the viral fever-affected areas.

There are 115 households in that ward. Health workers have visited each household. Dry winds in the morning and evening, and during the change of weather, might cause cold, fever, and headache. The health workers have requested the citizens to avoid this.
