Informal Area Service Center (INSEC) and Kayapalat staged a massive demonstration on May 5, 2023, demanding to end plastic pollution and protection of the environment in Shambhanath Municipality 6 and 7 of Saptari.
With the participation of rights activists, youth, and students, they organized a “Plastic Man Campaign” by demonstrating a procession with placards on the highway, Buddha Chowk, and Tinkune Chowk in Kathuna.
The participants in the rally carried placards with slogans such as ‘Let’s protect the earth’, ‘Save the future’, ‘don’t use plastic’, ‘don’t litter’, ‘stop greenhouse gas emissions’, and ‘end air pollution’.Nepal has become the most polluted city in the world and is affected by environmental pollution.
The participants also discussed the need for environmental protection and the accountability of citizens.
Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC) Madhes Province Office Coordinator Raju Paswan, INSEC Saptari Representative Manohar Kumar Pokharel, Program Coordinator Barun Basyal, teachers, transformation activists, officials of Madhes Province and Shambhunath city-based human rights group, and members of child rights awareness group participated in the program.
