District Court sentenced, Parameshwar Sah, 21, to life imprisonment on April 30, 2023, for the crime of setting fire to the Rajkumari Sah, 27, of Bode Bersain Municipality-1 Dhangadhi.
According to the information officer, Bharatmani Pokharel, the bench of District Judge Hark Bahadur Chhetri found the accused guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Similarly, the bench also ordered Sah to pay compensation of Rs. 300,000 to the victim’s children.
Rabin Kumar Sah, the husband of the deceased, filed a complaint at the area police office in Kadarbona on February 9, 2022, saying that the accused set fire by sprinkling petrol on the morning of February 4, 2022.
The victim died in Biratnagar on the night of February 5, 2022, during treatment. The post-mortem of the dead body was done on February 6, 2022, at Koshi Hospital Biratnagar in Morang. The deceased’s father, Badri Sah of Bode Bersain Municipality-6, also lodged a complaint at the Local Police Office in Kadarbona on February 6, 2023, saying that Prasham had bought petrol in a bottle, sprinkled petrol on the body of the victim while she was cooking and set her on fire.
Area Police Office Kadarbona registered the complaint given by Rabin on February 9, 2022. The accused was arrested from his house on May 29, 2022. The deceased has a two-year-old daughter and an eight-year-old son.
District Judge Ritakumari Bakhrel’s bench filed the charge sheet in the district court on June 20, 2022. The accused was remanded to judicial custody in Rajviraj Jail on June 21, 2022.
