House of Representatives Committees Formed According to the House of Representatives Rules 2023

In a meeting of the House of Representatives held on April 28, 2023, Speaker Devraj Ghimire proposed the names of the members who will be in the subject 10 thematic committees of the House of Representatives. The proposal was according to the House of Representatives Rules 2023. The committees were formed with the approval of the speaker.

According to the House of Representatives rules, the subject committees are Finance Committee, International Relations and Tourism Committee, Industry, Commerce, Labor, and Consumer Welfare Committee, Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee, Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee, Women and Social Affairs Committee, Public Order and Good Governance Committee. , Infrastructure Development Committee, Education, Health and Information Technology Committee, and Public Accounts Committee.

Similarly, two joint committees with members of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly are yet to be formed.

Under the Joint Committee are,  the Parliamentary Hearing Committee and the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Committee of the National Director Principles, Policies, and Responsibilities.

The committees of the House of Representatives will evaluate the actions of the government,  and discuss and decide on various bills. As per the rule, the chairperson of the committees will be elected within the first meeting of the committee. The committee will be led by a senior member of the committee until the election of a chairperson.
