Voting for members of the House of Representatives election has started in each constituency of Bara, Chitwan and Tanahun from 7 am.
According to Election Commission, voting will be held from 7 am in the morning to 5 pm in the evening. The government has announced that the security arrangements for the elections have been tightened.
After the appointment of Ramchandra Paudel- an elected me of House of Representatives from Tahanu-1, as a President, re-election is being held in that place. Likewise, after the appointment of Ramsahay Prasad Yadav – an elected member from Bara-2, as the Vice President, re-election is being held there.
Re-election is being held in Chitwan-2 as Ravi Lamichhane, an elected member from said constituency was found guilty in the citizenship related case.
The Election Commission had to conduct a by-election as there is a legal provision to fill the vacant positions through by-elections.
As per the observer mobilized by INSEC cum district representative, even though the election code of conducts were violated, no actions were taken against anyone due to lack of complaints.
According to the Election Commission, there are 1,05,248 voters in Bara District Constituency no.2, 1,24,659 voters in Chitwan District Constituency no. 2 and 1,23,305 voters in Tanahun District Constituency no.1.
There are 194 polling centres and 427 polling stations for the three districts where the by-elections is being held. Bara district has 82 pooling centres and 137 pooling stations.
There are 43 polling centres and 138 polling stations in Chitwan district, while Tanahun district has 69 polling centres and 152 polling stations.
