Accused of Rape Sentenced to 18 Years Imprisonment

The District Court has sentenced  Sushil Chataut, 38, permanent resident of Bhimdatta Municipality-4, temporary living in Mahalakshmi Municipality-4, Imadol Greenhill City, Kanchanpur District,  to 18 years of imprisonment for the crime of rape of a 14-year-old girl.

According to Registrar Bishnu Prasad Pandey, the bench of District Court Judge Sita Sharma Adhikari sentenced Chataut to 18 years imprisonment and ordered him to pay Rs. 8, 000, 00 as compensation and Rs. 2,800 to the victims’ relief fund.

The aggrieved party filed a police complaint, on 8 February 2023 at Satdobato police circle against Chataut, accusing him of the rape of the victim on 7 February 2023.

The health examination of the victim girl was done on 7 February at Patan Hospital.

Chataut, who had absconded after the incident, was arrested on 30 March 2022.

The police registered a case against Chataut in the District Court on 20 April 2022, and he was sent to jail on 24 April 2022.
