Sita Kaini from Byas Municipality-11, Polyang has filed an application to correct her husband’s name in the list of martyrs published by the Nepal government in the gazette on 13 March 2023.
Sita Kaini stated that she filed an application at the District Administration Office on 3 April along with the recommendation from Ward Office to correct her husband’s name as her husband Shyamsundar Kaini’s name was listed as ‘Bharat Kaini’.
Shyamsunder Kaini was arrested from his house by a team of Nepal Army on 30 April 2002, taken to Bangesimal of Byas Municipality-12 and shot dead.
The government recently published the names of 8,470 people who were killed during the armed conflict in the list of martyrs. Their names were published in the Nepal Gazette.
Kaini informed that she applied for the correction as she would be deprived of various facilities provided by the State in the days to come if the wrong name was left uncorrected.
Chief District Officer Chabilal Rijal said that the request received to correct the name in the recommendation of ward office will be verified and sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs for the correction.
