Workshop On” Continuity of History with Revision of Nepal Human Rights Yearbook” Completed

A two-day workshop was held at Dhulikhel in Kavre to modify the format of the Nepal Human Rights Year Book,  published by INSEC every year since 1992.

In the workshop on “Continuity of history with revision of the Nepal Human Rights Yearbook”, the former chairperson of INSEC, Subodhraj Pyakurel, said that the credibility of the documented cases in the yearbook increases with victim interviews and follow-up.

Chairperson of INSEC Dr. Kundan Aryal emphasized that the Nepal Human Rights Year Book should be beneficial for the advocacy of human rights.

Secretary General of INSEC Raghunath Adhikari, said that the book should be published through efficient use of INSEC’s resources and manpower.

Bijayraj Gautam, executive director of INSEC, said that the Nepal Human Rights Yearbook will be improved by modifying the documentation of existing issues incorporated in the book and incorporating new issues as per the need of the time.

During the workshop, Madan Poudel, Head of the Human Rights Documentation and Dissemination Department, presented a plan with a timeline for the preparation of the yearbook.

In the same way, Krishna Gautam presented the writing of the executive chapter, Samjha Shrestha on the judiciary chapter, and Ramesh Prasad Timalsina on the executive chapter of the book.

Anuj KC presented the statistics, and Suna Payakurel presented plans and frameworks on Dalit rights and criminal justice.

Shobhakar Budhathoki, advocate Ravindra Bhattarai, Media expert Binod Bhattarai, Secretary of the House of Representatives Gopalnath Yogi, Secretary of the National Assembly Rajendra Phuyal commented on the format presented.

They have also expressed their willingness to support INSEC from their respective places to further improve the Nepal Human Rights Year Book.
