The House of Representatives meeting on 2 April 2023 passed the House of Representatives Regulation 2023 by a majority.
After the elections on 20 November 2022, the functioning of the parliamentary committees was affected as the regulation was not passed.
Due to the absence of a parliamentary committee, the deliberations on the bills registered in the House of Representatives were also hindered.
According to the Secretariat of the Parliament, the names and scope of work of various thematic committees under the House of Representatives have been modified compared to the previous regulations.
The industry, Commerce, Labor, and Consumer Interest Committee under the previous House of Representatives will become the Industry, Labor, and Commerce Committee. By removing ‘consumer interests’ from that committee, the subject of consumer rights will be governed by the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee.
The former International Relations Committee has been renamed the International Relations and Tourism Committee and the former Women and Social Committee has been renamed the Women and Social Affairs Committee.
Similarly, the Development and Technology Committee has been renamed as Infrastructure Development and Technology Committee by adding infrastructure.
