INSEC Conducted a Discussion on the Contemporary Situation of Human Rights with the IGP

Chairperon of INSEC, Dr. Kundan Aryal and the team conducted a discussion on the contemporary situation of human rights with the IGP Dhiraj Pratap Singh on 26 February 2023.

IGP Singh expressed his concerns on the issues raised in the Nepal Human Rights Year Book 2023 in a meeting held with the aim having discussion on the protection and promotion of human rights.

He stated that the role played by INSEC in documenting the cases of human rights abuses and violations and holding concerned authorities accountable is praiseworthy.

As per him, Nepal Police has adopted zero tolerance policy in the cases of human rights violations including troture.

He also informed that they are in the process of forming a Dalit desk in order to facilitate the victims of discrimination including women, children and senior citizens.

Chairperson of INSEC, Dr. Kundan Aryal took the decreasing trend of cases of human rights violations committed by Nepal Police on a positive note. He however, expressed grief in the increasing cases of sexual offences committed against women and children.

As per Chairperson Aryal, effective works including the enactment of police policy is imperative to minimize the cases of violence against women and children committed via use of electronic mediums.

Executive Director of INSEC Bijaya Raj Gautam, Krishna Gautam and Sailesh Sharma were present in the dicussion along with the Chairperson Aryal.

Similarly, SP Dip Shumsher Rana was also present in the discussion alongside IGP at the Police Headquarter.
