Prakash Chand of Pancheshwar Rural Municipality-4 has been sentenced to two months imprisonment, fined NPR 500 and compensated NPR 25,000.
The bench of District Court, Baitadi Judge Jayanand Paneru, gave the verdict on September 5, 2022.
Chand had written discriminative words in his facebook status to insult Balbhadra Dayal, the then Ward Chairperson of Melauli Municipality-5. He did so on April 20, 2022.
He wrote, “Do Dayal in Nepal belong to Dom Community (Dalit), like Balbhadra Dayal?” Dayal filed a complaint against Chand at the district police office on April 20, 2022.
Chand is currently on a run and search for him is ongoing, says the police.
