Police Arrest 26 for Surrounding District Administration Office

Police arrested 26 people on July 11 on charges of besieging the District Administration Office.

According to DSP Makendra Kumar Mishra of the District Police Office, the arrests were made after protesters surrounded the Morang District Administration Office over the incident that occurred at the holding centre in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, on the same day.

Police said the 26 individuals were arrested after they created a disturbance, staged a sit-in outside the main gate of the District Administration Office on the night of July 11, and obstructed police operations as well as vehicular movement in protest over the Kathmandu incident.

Those arrested include Amaresh Mali, 17, and Krishna Yadav, 22, of Rajbiraj Municipality, Saptari; Mohammad Dil, 21, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–4; Mohammad Akbar, 28, of Dewanganj Rural Municipality, Sunsari; Rohit Sahani, 20, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–6; Mohammad Afroz, 20, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–10; Ankit Rajbanshi, 18, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–2; Asif Umar, 18, Chand Chahid, 21, Aftab Sekh, 18, and Arman Sekh, 17, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–6; Dipesh Kumar Rai, 18, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–7; Rihan Sekh, 20, and Mehbub Alam, 17, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–8; Sarkhan Sharma, 22, and Sin Alam, 19, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–9; Mohammad Taufiq Umar, 22, and Amir Jamali, 19, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–6; Asif Sekh, 18, and Saki Alam, 18, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–17; Sachin Kumar Mandal, 21, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–10; Jamsed Alam, 26, Aslam Sami, 26, Faran Khan, 20, and Mehbub Alam, 17, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–8; Priyans Kumar Karn, 18, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–13; and Anjar Khan, 20, of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–15.

Police said all those arrested are being held at the District Police Office.
