Two people have been arrested for allegedly tying up and beating a seven-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl from Urlabari Municipality–3 on suspicion of stealing a mobile phone.
The incident occurred on July 6, 2026, when the two children were allegedly tied to an iron pillar inside the premises of the Guru Gorakhnath Temple and physically assaulted.
According to Assistant Sub-Inspector Chandra Bahadur Bhandari of the Urlabari Area Police Office, police arrested Nishan Karki, 20, and Suman Budhathoki, 18 on the same day for investigation.
Inspector Nabin Wali said that after receiving information about the incident, a police team reached the scene, rescued both children, and handed them over to their parents. Police reported bruises on the children’s legs as a result of the beating.
The two accused have been detained at the Urlabari Area Police Office while the investigation continues.
