Three people have been arrested for allegedly beating Chief Administrative Officer Chandrakanta Basnet inside his office.
According to police, a group of six people, including Lal Bahadur Tamang, allegedly entered Basnet’s office at Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality on October 4, 2026 and beat him.
District Police Office Chief Rameshwar Paudel said that Lal Bahadur Tamang, 43, was arrested in Sarlahi on July 6, 2026. Two others Atal Pandey, 37, and Akash Lama, 27, were arrested in Gajuri, Dhading, on July 2, 2026. A case was registered against them on July 3, 2026 under the charge of public misconduct.
The Chitwan District Court granted police a seven-day remand to continue the investigation.
Following the incident, employees of Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality issued a statement on July 2, 2026, condemning the attack. They said the incident had raised serious concerns about the safety of public employees and called for a secure working environment within government offices.
