A 50-year-old man who escaped from Nakhu Jail on September 9, 2025, during unrest involving a group of young protesters, was re-arrested by police on June 24, 2026.
The man had been convicted in a case involving the rape of his 15-year-old daughter and sentenced to 17 years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 50,000. A police team from the Lalitpur District Police Range arrested him from Kupondole, Ward No. 1 of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, according to Superintendent of Police and Information Officer Gautam Mishra.
Police said he has been returned to Nakhu Jail for the execution of the court’s sentence.
