The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Baglung branch has stated through a press release that Khimraj Gautam, Treasurer of FNJ Baglung and editor of Adarsha Sanchar.com, was allegedly threatened by the Chairperson of Kathekhola Rural Municipality, Raju Thapa, in relation to a news article titled “Mismanagement in Kathekhola: Idle Own Dozer While Rented Dozers Dominate”, published on Adarsha Sanchar.com on June 11.
It has been stated that Gautam submitted a written complaint to the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Baglung, claiming that he received threats. The statement notes that if there are any grievances or disagreements regarding the news content, one should proceed through legal procedures as per existing regulations. However, it condemns the act of making threatening phone calls and sending messages, stating that such actions are inappropriate, and has demanded a proper investigation and action against those responsible.
The press release further states that the Federation has demanded that the concerned authorities ensure the physical safety and security of journalists.
