Police arrested Suman Thapa Magar, 33, alias Suman Kumal, on June 7, in connection with a case involving a 15-year-old girl who was allegedly lured through various inducements and made to interact with customers at a spa in inappropriate ways.
Kumal, a permanent resident of Shiranchok Rural Municipality–3, Gorkha District, and currently residing in Sanepa, Arun Thapa Chowk, Lalitpur Metropolitan City–2, is the operator of Shukalpa Spa and Therapy. According to a complaint filed by the victim’s side at the District Police Range, Jawalakhel, on June 7, the spa operator allegedly employed the minor as a staff member and involved her in inappropriate activities at the establishment. According to Gautam Mishra, Information Officer and Superintendent of Police (SP) at the District Police Range, the suspect was arrested from the spa on the same day.
The victim underwent a medical examination at Patan Hospital on June 7, according to the hospital’s Director, Professor Dr. Ravi Shakya.
Police stated that the Lalitpur District Court granted a five-day remand on June 8, and that further investigation is ongoing under allegations related to human trafficking and transportation.
