After a flood last year, a bridge on the Bhojpur–Chakhewa road was swept away, resulting in the complete suspension of movement of ambulances carrying patients, school buses, and passenger buses.
The disruption occurred after a motorable bridge over the Chalse stream in Bhojpur Municipality–5, Bokhim, was washed away by floods on April 25, bringing that section of the road to a complete halt.
With the bridge destroyed, the road section connecting to the Mid-Hill Highway has been obstructed.
Ward Chairperson Favidra Pradhan of Bhojpur Municipality–5 stated that the destruction of the bridge has created difficulties in transporting patients, commuting to and from schools, and transporting daily essential goods.
Ward Chairperson Pradhan also said that alternative measures are being sought following the destruction of the bridge. The Road Division Office, Tumlingtar, has deployed a technical team and is making efforts to reopen the blocked road. The team is conducting an on-site assessment of the damage and is preparing plans for temporary road operation options.
It has been reported that there is a shortage of necessary machinery and equipment for disaster response in the district, which often causes problems during such situations.
