An inmate who had escaped from the Regional Jail, Jhumka, during a protest by the youth has been arrested by police.
Abhishek Jaiswal, also known as “Chotu,” a resident of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City–2 in Sunsari, who had fled while serving a sentence for a theft case at Jhumka Jail, was arrested in Biratnagar on April 12.
Jaiswal, who had been sentenced by the Sunsari District Court to five months’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10,000, was apprehended in Biratnagar, according to Morang Police Information Officer DSP Leelaraj Lamichhane. He had escaped on September 9, taking advantage of the Gen-Z movement while serving his sentence at Jhumka Jail.
Lamichhane stated that Jaiswal was found and arrested in Haatkhola, Biratnagar Metropolitan City–8. Following his arrest, he was sent back to Jhumka Jail in Sunsari to serve the remainder of his sentence after completing the necessary legal procedures.
